Equestrian social media is galloping forward, and we are with them! Sometimes it's hard for us to find our way in all these theories. Keep in touch - don't keep in touch. Feed candy - don't feed candy. Strong bits are OK - or maybe they're not. Today a few words about Ola Mudry and her activities in social media.
Ola Mudry is an active competitor with a large number of followers on her Instagram account, as many as 41.6K followers. She started her adventure with horses 17 years ago. A year ago, she obtained the qualifications of a PZJ Sports Instructor and the international IGEQ 2 certificate. In 2010 and 2011, she twice stood on the highest podium of the HPP in the Small Horse category, which gave her the lead in the same category in the same years. (For those who have just started their adventure with horse riding, I will write that the Small Horse category, i.e. group E, includes horses in the 151-158 cm height range. Unfortunately, this category was abolished this year due to too few participants).
Ola, after double success in the E-group category, decided to continue fulfilling her riding aspirations on large horses. One of the two horses she tried her hand at was a gray, 4-year-old gelding, Calantino, with whom, after 8 years, she managed to reach the level of the national Grand Prix, i.e., 145 cm high. She also took part in the Polish Ladies Championships (130/135cm) and took high places in 1* and 2* CSI competitions.
Currently she has two young horses. She managed to show one of them at MPMK in Łąck.
On a daily basis, Ola Mudry trains younger and older horse riding students. She is a great choice for people who want to try their hand at show jumping. Her training sessions include exercises on poles and parcours. She provides simple riding information, which means that a young rider will not get lost in the multitude of information. Okay, enough of these recommendations - let's get to the specifics.
What exactly can you steal from Ola Mudry?
The current topic on her profile is: back to basics. Ola shows that sometimes it is worth working through problems that occur under the saddle by simply working from the ground. The athlete decided to work through the balance problems occurring in her horses by entering into cooperation with BOBRZYN - Ambitna rekreacja konna. The girls work together with Ola’s 4-year-old gelding - on the ground and in the saddle - recently they even had an entire training session in walk. It's very nice that there is still someone who considers returns to "total clichés" to be important. I will not comment on the effects of these trainings - go to the girls' profiles, read what their trainings look like and decide if this is your style.
In the series "EXPERT ADVICE on what to borrow from and from whom, i.e. influencers - watch and learn!" all famous equestrian influencers will appear. It is important to follow each of them (together with me or separately) and ask yourself the question - do I want my riding to look like this? Do I like this influencer's horse (but not because of its color or face, but because of its behavior and the way it moves), its musculature, competition results, the atmosphere during training, the training methods themselves, the treatment of horses outside of work, the way of teaching others or the way driving of this influencer's charges. Remember that influencers show us their way of riding, but the number of followers does not improve their coaching skills. Choose wisely and what suits your horse!
And now it's time for my Bullet Points regarding picking up behaviors from Ola Mudry and her mindset! Take it and imitate it everyone ;)
no matter how high you once were, it's never too late to get back to basics;
work with a young horse slowly, give him time to absorb new knowledge on his own;
work from the ground should be carried out under the supervision of a person we consider to be a specialist in this subject;
and the most important rule (which I agree with 100%) - “if your driving isn't perfect, look like it is so that others won't notice”
I hope that Ola, her horses and her riders will develop dynamically and will appear in our blog entries again! Honestly? I can't wait to see what comes out of this foundation work! I hope you do too. We invite you to follow us and the girls on social media.
